My analyzer already decodes VINs — what's different?
Everyone decodes the VIN. We tell you the verdict: does it need a smog check, which BAR test (OIS, ASM, TSI, tailpipe), and whether it's exempt.
Where does the data come from?
Specs from NHTSA vPIC, recalls from NHTSA, smog history from CA BAR — and the verdict logic is tested against a fixed matrix, so the same car always gets the same answer.
Can I scan a plate instead of a VIN?
Yes. Plate lookups cost us money, so they're metered — a free account covers about ten a day.
